We have several programs for a variety of purposes, ranging from basic martial arts, to self defense, to esteem and life skills building and more. Over the years, the ATA has come to realize that there are many reasons for studying Songahm Taekwondo, and we have worked hard to develop programs that will help realize these goals rather than forcing our students into one, linear area of study and practice.
Songahm Taekwondo itself is always evolving, and as such we will always develop new programs and update our existing programs to ensure our students have as much access to the different aspects of Songahm Taekwondo as possible.
There are many reasons for kids to become involved in the Martial Arts. We have developed a program based on traditional Taekwondo for kids called Karate for Kids. The Karate for Kids system is based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to technical skills. The building blocks for our system are monthly themes such as:
Goals |
Friendship |
Perseverance |
Self-Control |
Confidence |
Self-Improvement |
Courtesy |
Self-Awareness |
Respect
|
Integrity |
Self-Esteem |
Dedication |
In addition to monthly themes, our system includes the unique victory patch. Upon enrolling in either the Karate For Kids or Tiny Tigers classes, your child will receive a Victory patch to go on the left breast of their uniform. Students are rewarded special "Victory Stars"to go on the patch. These different colored stars are rewarded for outstanding performance in karate class, school, home, or at a tournament competition. Kids may receive the following stars for the following deeds:
Blue - Blue star reports, Chores around the house
Red - Competing in Sports, Taekwondo Tournaments, Spelling B’s and other types of competition.
Silver - Special performance awards
Gold - Straight A’s, honor roll, or significant improvement
Four different colored Victory Patches are available to accommodate all the stars that can be earned by a high achieving Karate Kid:

In addition to our internationally recognized Karate for Kids program, we offer the Taekwondo for Tiny Tigers program. The Tiny Tiger program was developed specifically for preschool age children ages 3 through 6. This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. In addition, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. All classes are taught using the most safe, fun, and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. This program works in conjunction with the Karate for Kids program, thereby emphasizing the same important monthly themes and value system.
The Black Belt Club Program is a specially developed program by the ATA for all students regardless of age or rank. It represents the highest level of our "Success through Goal Setting" philosophy. Black Belt Club members are those individuals who have set their goal at "Black Belt" and make a committment to study and train until achieving that goal.
All Black Belt Club Members are able to attend weekly BBC Classes which train each student at a higher level toward their Black Belt. Protech weapons, Advanced Pressure Point Control, Joint Locks, and Advanced Sparring are just some of the Black Belt Level aspects taught in these classes. This enables the student to make more advanced progress toward being a Black Belt and a leader.
